1. You (2018):

You, Netflix’s original is an American psychological thriller based on Caroline Kepnes’ novel by the same name. ‘You’ is an addictive series that would make you sit back and think about the way we conduct ourselves on social media and how exposed and vulnerable we leave ourselves. Joe Goldberg, the protagonist is a crazed obsessed lover who stalks Guinevere Beck in all ways possible to make her fall in love with him. He steals her phones and hacks it to track her texts, hacks into her social media accounts, breaks into her apartment and invades her privacy in every possible way! He can go to any level to win her over and it’s just scary to watch him do that as the episodes unfold. The show is creepy but addictive at the same time.
2. The People v O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story (2016):

Logline – “After the bodies of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman are discovered, police finger O.J. as a suspect and prosecutor Marcia Clark takes the case”
One of the most infamous trials in American history gets a dramatic interpretation in this limited series, which follows the trial of former football star O.J. Simpson, the prime suspect in the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman. After a televised high-speed chase that captivated the nation, District Attorney Marcia Clark brings charges against Simpson, leading to the highly publicized murder trial.
The show also portrays issues of sexism, racism, and class and how these issues played heavy roles in the outcome.

The show examines the case from several angles and gives the audience perspectives of the major characters involved in the case, including Simpson, Clark, and Simpson’s legal team — Robert Shapiro, Robert Kardashian, and Johnnie Cochran. The show has stellar performances from Sarah Paulson as Marcia Clark, Sterling K. Brown as Christopher Darden, David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian, JohnTravolta as Robert Shapiro and Courtney B. Vance as Johnnie Cochran.
Like the case that inspired it, The People v. O.J. Simpson is dramatic, emotional, and ultimately leaves the viewer wondering where the truth lies.
3. Dark (2017- present):

Dark is a German science fiction thriller and the first German-language Netflix original series. In Dark, the disappearance of two young children in the German town of Winden brings light to the fractured relationships, double lives, and the dark past of four families living there, revealing a mystery that spans three generations. The story crosses over three timelines with complex characters and is always mysterious and complicated characters. The twist and turns will keep you hooked on and leave you wanting for more.
This show leans heavily into fantasy and sci-fi territory, but the enthralling mystery makes it worth a watch! Definitely one of the best shows to watch on Netflix currently.
4. Unbelievable (2019):
1 Season – 8 Episodes Limited Series
Logline – “The true story of Marie, a teenager who was charged with lying about having been raped, and the two female detectives who followed a twisting path to arrive at the truth. Based on the Marshall Project/ProPublica article, “An Unbelievable Story of Rape” and the This American Life episode about the same case”
Unbelievable tells the story of a horrifying crime that keeps happening over a period of several years until two female detectives decided to crack it down and get to the truth. The first episode is set in 2008 where 18-year-old Lynnwood, Washington woman Marie is attacked in her apartment by a man who ties her up and rapes her, taking photographs all the while. During questioning the police come to conclusion that the victim has made up all of this and they abandon the investigation while charging her with filing a false report. Two years later, in Colorado, detectives investigate a serial rapist with the exact same modus operandi—all without knowing that he may have struck before. The way the episodes unfold and the detectives work to get to the criminal keeps you hooked on to this show. All you want to know while watching this limited series’ eight episodes is what would motivate a man to potentially become a serial rapist.
5. Black Mirror(2011 – present):

Logline – “This sci-fi anthology series explores a twisted, high-tech near-future where humanity’s greatest innovations and darkest instincts collide”
What is one of the worst fears you have about technology? That one day it will take over everything and invade your privacy, sanity, and relationships. If that’s something you fear then the sci-fi thriller series Black Mirror will only serve to confirm it. Each episode of this series is self-contained and opens with new characters in new grim circumstances navigating the dark side of technology. Future tech is integral to Black Mirror‘s DNA but the show also focuses on human flaws as to how do we use the technology and devices available around us.
