Yoga For Weight Loss: Burn Calories The Yogic Way

Yoga For Weight Loss

When you think of weight loss routines, you generally expect intense cardio workouts and a strict, frugal diet.

Both of these might make you shy away from embarking on your weightloss journey.

But what if I told you that the peaceful, traditional art of yoga is a much more effective way of not just losing weight but losing inches, becoming more agile, active, and toned

Yoga is an excellent way to lose weight naturally. By focusing on your core, yoga asanas can make you more flexible, reduce bloating, improve your digestion and most importantly, reduce stress which is usually the main cause for weight gain.

Yoga for weight loss is intense and yet, it doesn’t lead to the level of fatigue or post-workout cravings that are often the aftermath of long hours at the gym.

Yoga does the opposite. It fills you with inner peace as it centers on mindfulness exercises and keeps you motivated to eat healthy as you learn to tune into your body’s real needs.

Here are some yoga asanas that will not just help burn calories but will also transform you into a healthier, calmer and more confident version of yourself:

The best way to tone your belly is by strengthening your core. This Pose stretches your whole body, reducing belly fat and toning your abs.

To perform this pose, lie face down and bend your knees until you grab your ankles with both your hands. While doing this your knees should slightly remain apart from each other.

Inhale deeply, lifting your chest and hamstrings off the floor. Stay in this position for 20 seconds and exhale as you relax.

2. Trikonasana (Triangle Pose)

This pose improves digestion, blood circulation and reduces belly and waist fat. Stand with feet wide apart.

Stretch your arms outwards on either sides parallel to the floor. Inhale and bend on your right side, bringing your right hand towards your right foot.

Left arm should be stretched straight towards the sky. Wait for a few seconds. Inhale, exhale and repeat the same steps on the left side.

3. Virbhadrasana (Warrior Pose)

Exhale and perform the exercise focusing on the left knee.

4. Setu Bandha Sarvangasana (Bridge Pose)

This asana stimulates abdominal organs and improves metabolism which is essential for weight loss. For Bridge pose, lie down with your back against the ground.

Keeping your feet flat on the ground, lift your torso by bending your knees and palms flat on the ground, underneath the hips. Head and neck should also remain on the ground.
